Amendments to Right To Information Act – Yet another shameful outcome from UPA Governance in India?

By implementing Reservations on Private Sectors for the backward community few months back despite the nation wide protest from the all the community and now by proposing new “so called” amendments to the Right To Information Act (RTI) in order to weaken RTI has once again proven the inefficient handling of the fundamental rights of Equality and Right to Information of the common citizens of India.

I am not in favor of any political party but only a concerned citizen.

In the eve of the nations 59^th year Independence the UPA govt. is all set to bring new definition to the term Independence!

The amendment to the RTI Act is to exclude file notings by Govt. officers, if implemented would mean that the transparency to the work of the public servants (Govt. officials) with be taken away from the citizens. If these amendments get implemented it would not only enable the corruption to prevail in the Govt. Offices but also weaken the Chief Information Commission (CIC) by not letting them to function in the way they could in the previous year which had resulted in substantial reduction in corruption.

The RTI Act had given the power to the citizens to know how their hard earned money paid in the form of taxes are being utilized by the Govt. Office. By RTI Act combined with the power of information processing through the world largest network - Internet the new generation of India has already started utilizing the RTI and started making their voice heard in the march against corruption.

Needless to say if all the concerned citizens does not act right now the UPA Govt. would once again succeed in getting this amendment to be implemented just the same way as they reformulated the Reservation laws. It is high time we raise our voice against such laws getting implemented that would take away the much needed fundamental rights of the citizens. Jai Hind.

Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna...a poem by RAMPRASAD BISMIL (1897-1927) is one of the most inspiring poems written during the Indian Freedom Movement.

I would like to dedicate this post to Shahid Ramprasad Bismil who sacrificed his life for our Mother Land.

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai.
Dekhna hai zor kitna baazuay qaatil mein hai

Karta nahin kyun doosra kuch baat cheet,
Dekhta hun main jise voh chup teri mehfil mein hai
Aye shaheed-e-mulk-o-millat main tere oopar nisaar,

Reservations for Backward community in Private Sector

Long past the days in India where discrimination was being done on a religious and caste basis. When the Nation is celebrating its 59th year of Independence, the government is busy to bring new laws that will fetch them few extra votes from the community that could be the beneficiary of it.

The initial idea of reservation (formulated decades back) for the backward community by creating quota system in all of the government jobs and institutions was for a highly respectable motive. At that time the leaders of the nation realized that, it is only through this the backward and minority community can be brought forward with the growth of the Nation. The only motive was for the uplift of these communities. This was very reasonable and was essential and as a result of which India is now World’s Largest Democratic Nation and accommodates the most diverse cultures and communities.

India has come past the era of religious, caste or minority based discrimination. If you still believe that the discrimination is still in practice how can you justify the fact that the previous Hon'ble President of India was from a backward caste, our present Hon'ble President of India is from a religion that is being referred to as a Minority/Backward community?
I respect both of these personalities who have displayed highly respectful leadership skills. The situation has changed now and so shall the Laws. Now it is time for stopping the reservations on a Backward/minority basis and should make reservation purely on Financial basis. It is high time our Govt. officials realize that uplift is required for the people who are poor but for their misfortune they could not take birth as a member of backward/minority community. Which law concerns with the welfare of the people who are financially backward and comes under no quota system? The time has come to take away the laws that does not justify in the first place why it is being followed and to formulate new laws that is relevant to the present crisis and have the needy to be the beneficiary.

Instead of identifying the laws that no longer holds good and eliminating them, our politicians are busy expanding the quotas and extending their implications to the Private Sectors like IT industry and Exceptional educational institutes like IIT and IIM purely for their selfish intend to make investments in their "Vote Bank".
The Indian IT sector is gaining international attention and recognition to the heights that we are the part of the discussion when it comes to "reliable" service for an affordable price. At every budget disclosure the companies tend to have more of their operations to be done from offshore preferably India. If the private sector is going to have the overhead of training the candidates that merely qualify on the reservation (please exclude the candidates who come on merit basis even though they were eligible for a reservation) the quality of services that we offer to the companies in the other countries will deteriorate over time and would also definitely result in the brain drain of the good candidates to these countries as they lost their employment to the persons that came from reservations.

When searching the internet about the related topics I came across one particular petition that is being filed online. I think it might be something many persons reading this blog would be interested to look at.
